it was the third week of Adventure Bible School in New Zealand and we were on “the journey”
we had been walking for days, and i was anxious for a good view. like the waterfall we saw yesterday. or when we watched the sun peak it’s way over the misty Kaimai mountains two morning’s ago.
so far today the only view we had was ferns, and trees, and the backs of the other ABS’ers tramping in front of us…
we sat down for a water break and i began to realize how necessary this day was. no it wasn’t the most exciting part of “the journey” so far. it was long. it was uneventful. we were just trudging along. but it was necessary. little did i know where this long and boring path would lead. little did i know what summits we would reach tomorrow, and the next week. i reflected on how “the journey” was full of long days and more relaxed days. breath-taking scenery and lots of ferns. some days we hiked more k’s then i could keep track of. other’s we got to sit in hot springs.
each leg of the journey was equally necessary and i began to realize, equally meaningful.
the lessons i learned on ABS transfered so easily to my ACTUAL life. each season of my journey would be different yet necessary, and deeply meaningful.
we don’t always see what comes next whether it’s a summit or a valley, but we know God is faithful to us in every leg of the journey.
Chris and I would love to share more details about God’s faithfulness to us in the journey we’ve walked together. some of you will know about that journey or have walked with us. some of you are walking with us right now on this present journey, while so many of our relationships have become long-distance. expect LOTS of pictures, stories, and updates on where we are and what God’s doing in our lives. then there are our loving encouragers, the gentle enquirers, asking where are you headed next? we can’t wait to share with you the journey ahead.
will you join us on our journey?
