Ravencrest Chalet is one of the 26 international Torchbearers centres, located in Estes Park, CO. During the school year, they run a Bible school program, where students are challenged and grown through the studying of the Word and their interaction and relationships with the staff and other students. I believe this generation of students values these 2 things: they value and yearn for real, genuine and intimate relationships. They also learn by experience (as do all of us) and love to share experiences with others. The greatest life experience we want to share with these students is the experience of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This relationship is truly life giving – Jesus Christ is our life.
These students communicate through media, more than any other generation. It is important, that we too, try to communicate to them using the same tools and avenues that they do. That is why we (Carly and I) are working to produce media with Torchbearers to help communicate the ministry and the testimonies of the life-changing experiences of students through their time at Bible School – to the praise of Christ Jesus, who works in and through us and who changes lives!
I, Chris, was able to produce several videos with Torchbearers since January, one being a video at Ravencrest Chalet. The aim for this video was to communicate the experiences of students during their time at Bible School, in a way where young people could be encouraged by these students’ stories, whether they think about coming to a Torchbearer centre or not. And if a student is interested in coming, to study the Bible and learn more about God and what His will is for them because of this video – then that is great!
It was a great project to work on, and so cool to capture and tell the story of what goes on in these students’ lives at Ravencrest Chalet. And we rejoiced when we heard that from this years students, 3 were encouraged to come to Bible school after watching our video.
