Chris and I are now living at Ravencrest Chalet, a Bible-school and retreat center located just outside Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado.
We are so grateful for our own little home and to be living in this little community for (at least) the next few years.
For nine months of the year we have the privilege of walking alongside students as they encounter Christ in new ways through the Bible School program. We love having the students in our home, sharing life with them, and most importantly hearing how Christ is transforming them. As Bible School has come to a close and the center begins to shift gears for the summer, we are greatly encouraged by student testimonies of how Christ worked during their time at Torchbearer Centres around the world.
A few weeks ago, Chris and I drove down to Winter Park to the other Torchbearers Centre in Colorado. We have been to Timberline Lodge several times and we are close friends with a few of the staff there. The director at Timberline, Dan Thomas, asked if we would come down for a day so Chris could film some student testimonies that they could then send to their donors, telling the stories of the impact that Bible School has had on several student’s lives.
There are few things that touch me as deeply as hearing these student’s stories. The stories of young adults who have found that Christ is all they have been looking for, all that they need.
He is our direction, comfort, courage, light, support, joy, our foundation.
These students get the awesome opportunity to focus on Christ, and give Him space to reveal His character to them and demonstrate His great love during their time at Bible School, and I think it touches me so profoundly whenever I hear their stories because that was me.
Jesus met me in an entirely new way while I was at Bible School and it completely blew me away, altered my identity, changed my heart, and determined my direction.
Here are just a few stories of what Christ has been doing in the lives of these students, please watch (at least the first 4 minutes,) and as you do:
Know that Jesus is alive and well, faithful in calling His own, and changing hearts.
Know that if you have supported Chris and I in any way, that you have had a hand in bringing about the kingdom of God through the small role that Chris and I play in the amazing work Christ is doing through the ministry of Torchbearers. Know you are appreciated, your efforts and sacrifice matter.
And finally know that Christ is producing fruit in you as you abide in His love and obey His call, even when you never see it. May this small evidence of fruit be a reminder of that today.
